Dear members and friends,
As the FTAA Board of Directors, we are very excited and honored to share with you, our members and our fellow Florida residents, the news that we have received a $15,000 grant from Broward County.
Within the scope of this grant, we are looking forward to your support for September 28th Turkish Cultural Heritage Day, which will be celebrated by our association for the first time in Türkiye and the United States.
The grant we received is a testament to the collective effort and heartfelt contributions of our FTAA family, a testament to our solidarity and a symbol of our cultural richness. For us, this award is not just a check; it’s also a recognition of our years of dedication to promoting, preserving, and passing on Turkish culture to future generations.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our volunteers, members, and all our friends who participated in our events for their unwavering support. This success would not have been possible without your support.
This award we received today further motivates us. We will continue to work to bring our culture, art, cuisine, and traditions to a wider audience in the coming years.
Let’s all stand together and continue to build bridges and show the strength of our society.

Soz konusu grant kapsaminda, Turkiye’de ve Amerika’da ilk kez dernegimiz tarafindan kutlanacak olan 28 Eylul Turk Kultur Mirasi Gunu (Turkish Heritage Day) icin

Their partnership, built on love and music, gifted us 270 songs, with over 100 topping the charts. From “İşte Öyle Bir Şey” to “Hababam Sınıfı”, their compositions remain etched in our hearts.

This January, the FTAA Painting Club brought creativity to life with two fantastic workshops led by the talented Nukhet Durudogan:

🎨 Watercolor Workshop – Thursdays, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
With sessions held at the Florida Turkish Center, participants explored their artistic talents in an intimate setting (max 10 students per class).

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Florida Turkish Center for our annual Atatürk Remembrance Day luncheon. This special event, coordinated by the dedicated volunteers of the FTAA Atatürk Chorus, brought our community together to honor the enduring legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
The afternoon will begin with a moment of silence in tribute to Atatürk’s enduring leadership and vision. Following this, children from the FTAA Atatürk School will also recite poetry and a special anthem, and the FTAA Atatürk Chorus will lead us in singing Atatürk’s favorite songs, as we reflect on his timeless contributions to Turkey and the world.
Lunch will feature some of Atatürk’s favorite comfort foods, including rice, beans, pickles, and helva, offering a simple yet heartfelt way to connect with his memory.
Come and share in this special tribute as we remember the great leader who continues to inspire us all.

FTAA Atatürk School with Yasemin Öğretmen

Yasemin Ersöz had Lead primary school students in a series of lessons about Turkish language, history, culture and arts in an interactive and fun way.
Parents were welcomed to enjoy some Turkish tea with free Wi-Fi at the center while their kids explore their Turkish heritage and make new friends!

We had a great opportunity to honor Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s legacy by celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Turkish Republic with a dedicated horse race followed by a gala dinner featuring live entertainment by Ferhat Göçer and Ümit Ortaç at the Hallandale Beach – Gulfstream Park.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Florida Turkish Center for our annual Atatürk Remembrance Day luncheon. This special event, coordinated by the dedicated volunteers of the FTAA Atatürk Chorus, brought our community together to honor the enduring legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
The afternoon will begin with a moment of silence in tribute to Atatürk’s enduring leadership and vision. Following this, children from the FTAA Atatürk School will also recite poetry and a special anthem, and the FTAA Atatürk Chorus will lead us in singing Atatürk’s favorite songs, as we reflect on his timeless contributions to Turkey and the world.
Lunch will feature some of Atatürk’s favorite comfort foods, including rice, beans, pickles, and helva, offering a simple yet heartfelt way to connect with his memory.
Come and share in this special tribute as we remember the great leader who continues to inspire us all.

On December 11, 2024, FTAA’s “Happy Holidays” themed Wednesday dinner created a warm and welcoming atmosphere at the Turkish House.
Thanks to the thoughtful organization of Ferhan Altop, Canan Özaktay, and Didem Altop, attendees enjoyed delicious food, delightful conversations, and an inspiring talk.
The evening’s feast was made complete by the contributions of everyone involved.
Following the meal, Gürkan Genç captivated the audience with tales of his worldwide cycling adventures.
